Tai Chi Sabre
The Tai Chi Sabre (Dan Dao) is one of the core weapons at White Cloud and what is taught here is complimentary to what has, or will, be learnt with the staff. Training with the staff is physically demanding and requires a certain amount of strength and stamina, with the Tai Chi Sabre however, as the name suggests, the student is within the realms of the internal martial arts.
The sabre itself is a simple weapon and it's basic applications of slashing and cutting can be learnt by anyone in very little time, what White Cloud uses it for is more than this. It is beneficial for the student of the Tai Chi Sabre to have some experience in open handed Tai Chi, but not essential as, like many other aspect of the White Cloud Syllabus, progress in one will aid progress in the other. What most people will achieve is the ability to do Tai Chi with a sword in their hand, what the White Cloud student strives to achieve is to do Tai Chi through their sword - the difference is subtle but important.
